Problems/Comments

Site of the historical location of the WWII Army Quartermaster's unit, which provided supplies and munitions for operations on Adak. Former buildings on the site included a powerhouse, a clothing supply building, a repair shop, a galvanized iron incinerator, a mess hall, and the headquarters building. Most of the site has been cleared, although foundations and parts of building still remain. Six USTs were located in this area as well as four debris sites. UST Q1 (1000-gallon tank), Q2 and Q3 (110-gallon tanks) were used to supply diesel-range fuel to buildings and the power generator. Q4 (500 gallon), Q5, and Q6 (both 55 gallon drums connected by piping) were used for unknown purposes. The debris areas consisted of drums, one steel AST, and electrical equipment. The site was retained during the screening process due to DRO levels above screening criteria. A method 4 risk assessment was performed on the site, demonstrating that contamination was below risk levels. NOFA selected in the OU A ROD.
