Problems/Comments
LUST duplicate of CS file 170.38.036. General information on the FAA Northway Leaking underground storage tanks. A 1000-gallon heating oil tank UST 52-A-16 at the Flight Service Station was decommissioned and excavated on August 3, 2000. A total of approximately 13 cubic yards of potentially contaminated soil was removed and stockpiled in a soil remediation cell at the Former Tank Farm Area. Soils near the UST penetrations (fill and vent) appeared to be affected with fuel oil. Groundwater was not encountered during tank removal activities. Five confirmation soil samples were collected from the limits of excavation and analyzed for diesel range organics (DRO), gasoline range organics (GRO), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). Confirmation sample results were below DEC Method 2 migration to groundwater cleanup criteria for all analytes.
