Problems/Comments
Site 4 Building P one 3,000 gallon heating oil tank removed on September 2, 1994 with approximately 50 cubic yards of contaminated soil. Soil at groundwater interface contaminated with 612.6 ppm DRO, with a visible sheen on the groundwater. The groundwater in this area of Fairbanks is between 7 and 9.5 feet below ground surface (bgs). The limits of excavation on all the tanks ranged from 9 to 10 feet. Apartments are currently on city water system and heated by natural gas. All excavated soils were thermally treated at OIT Services. Site 4 Building N, one 1,000 gallon heating oil tank and piping was removed on September 2, 1994 with no contamination found. Design Alaska, Inc. is local representative for AHFC. D.A., Inc. is responsible for the design of the buildings. New water and sewer system installed.
