Problems/Comments

During the upgrading of the one 10,000 gallon unleaded regular gasoline, one 10,000 gallon premium unleaded gasoline, and one 5,000 gallon diesel underground storage tanks on August 26, 1995, soil and groundwater contamination was encountered. Approximately 136 cubic yards of contaminated soils was excavated and treated at Clean Soils, and approximately 35 cubic yards of peat contaminated soils was excavated and treated at Anchorage Soil Recycling. Long term monitoring was established and a Soil Vapor Extraction System installed. On July 19 to 27, 2005 the tanks were upgraded to one 12,000 gallon premium unleaded gasoline and one 15,000 gallon regular unleaded gasoline, along with the SVE System was replaced with a new SVE system. Approximately 1,517 tons of contaminated soil was removed in 2005 and thermally remediated at Anchorage Soil Recycling. Tesoro installed three new (replacement) GW monitoring wells in the fall of 2006. Updated 2-14-07 Paul Horwath.
