FI; In July 1989, ADEC contracted Hart Crowser to further characterize the site. The investigation consisted of subsurface soil sampling, monitoring well installation, well point installation, well development, groundwater sampling, and a survey of well elevations. The report indicated a dissolved BTEX plume extending northwest from the pump island and USTs of the former service station. This was the suspected primary source of contamination. No measurable free product layer was present at the time of field work. Two of the four soil borings showed hydrocarbon contamination. For the soil samples, TPH ranged from 4.6 to 2730 ppm and total BTEX ranged from non-detectable to 90.4 ppm. Two of the six new monitoring wells showed contamination of 6400 and 8465 ppb total BTEX. |

Trace levels of BTEX were detected in each of the soil borings. Total BTEX ranged from non-detectable to 1.23 ppm. Four of the monitoring wells showed elevated levels of BTEX, which ranged from 655 to 14,472 ppb. Benzene levels ranged from 6.2 to 150 ppb. Two water samples showed 65 and 61 ppb lead. |
