Update or Other Action |
ADEC received a remedial action report for the Alaska Village Initiative store in St. Michael. According to the report, four areas of diesel range organics (DRO) impacted soil were identified and excavated around the store area. Approximately 245 cubic yards of DRO impacted soil were excavated from the four areas and placed in a 60 feet by 100 feet landfarm area which is located at the southern corner of the property. Approximately 20 cubic yards of lead-impacted soils were mixed with insoluble phosphate mineral blend that chemically stabilized the soil. Once the lead-impacted soil was stabilized most of the soil was placed into the landfarm area because it also contained DRO-impacted soil. Residual DRO-impacted soil still remains in Area B (adjacent to the new store) and Area G which is located near one of the warehouse buildings. |

Conditional Closure Approved |
No further remedial action planned (NFRAP) approved by Deb Williams/DEC. Approximately 250 cubic yards of contamianted soil was treated on-site (landfarmed). ADEC has determined that the cleanup actions employed at this site were effective in removing major sources of contamination. There is one area (10,900 mg/kg DRO) that exceeds the most stringent ADEC clean up levels. Added to database April 2006. |
