Problems/Comments

Soil and groundwater contamination found during removal of 4 underground storage tanks. Site no longer operating as a service station (since 6/90). Last staff assigned were Halverson and English.

No apparent change to risk to human health or the environment. When a switch is made to annual sampling, it will be suggested that the sampling be conducted during a period of annual high water so that all MWs may be sampled to provide useable data. A question remained about possible contamination remainning in the former tank area. Soil boring (BH-14) was completed to approximately 12 below ground surface.Two soil samples exceeded ADEC soil cleanup for benzene. All other constituents were below ADEC cleanup levels. It should be noted that the rentacl center personnel use the unpaved area around BH-14 to wash down equipment. Donald Seagren

Risk to human health and the environment is low. City ordinance requiring use of City water system will serve as an institutional control.
