Problems/Comments
The owner/operator illegally removed an underground storage tank (UST) system from this property, without providing the required prior notification to ADEC. No tank closure assessment report has ever been provided to ADEC, even though the environmental consulting firm performed an after-the-fact tank closure site assessment, and provided the owner/operator with a written report. ADEC staff were told that petroleum contamination was detected at concentrations exceeding ADEC soil cleanup levels during the tank closure assessment work. ADEC sent a letter to the owner/operator requesting a copy of the Shannon & Wilson tank closure assessment report, but never received any response. Last updated 2/6/2006.

4/17/2003 | Update or Other Action | Should future information reveal an imminent threat to human health or the environment, ADEC may pursue enforcement actions or State-lead assessment and cleanup work. | Alyce Hughey |
4/17/2003 | Update or Other Action | Contamination was verbally reported to have been detected at the former UST site location in concentrations exceeding ADEC soil cleanup levels, however the RP has refused to provide ADEC with a copy of the consultant's (Shannon & Wilson) UST closure site assessment/release investigation report. | Paul Horwath |
4/17/2003 | Update or Other Action | These UST systems were decommissioned illegally. Owner/Operator never provided a legitimate Tank Closure Assessment report. | Paul Horwath |
9/23/2004 | Update or Other Action | File number assigned and entered into the Fileroom DB and LUST DB. | Alyce Hughey |
7/26/2006 | Update or Other Action | Using the Site Map and Aerial Photo in the file, in conjunction with TopoZone Pro and the KPB Parcel Lookup, entered the coordinates for this site. Metadata includes No Topo Basemap, TopoZone Pro Street Maps, Black and White Aerial Photo, on a Medium Size Map, View Scale 1:10,000, Coordinate Datum WGS84. High degree of confidence in accuracy of location. | Alyce Hughey |
2/25/2008 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | Initial ETM site ranking completed. | Paul Horwath |
9/18/2014 | Update or Other Action | Clarence Abeldgaard, the land owner and liable party, has never responded to ADEC's request for submission of the Shannon & Wilson tank closure assessment report. Without that report, ADEC has no contaminant concentration data, and no way to evaluate risks posed by the site. A formal enforcement action might, or might not, result in the report being provided to ADEC. A future property transaction is the most likely scenario that could prompt and fund the work and reporting required to complete assessment work at this site. | Paul Horwath |
10/30/2014 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 77913 Former USTs. | Paul Horwath |
3/12/2015 | Update or Other Action | Lat/long collected and verified using CS Internal ArcGIS.com web map, and entered into CSP database. 59.641717 -151.552748 | Paul Horwath |
12/4/2020 | Cleanup Complete Determination Issued | Jessica Hall |
