Problems/Comments

In September 1993, contamination in the soil and groundwater found during the removal of two 12,000 gallon gasoline tanks and a 6,000 gallon diesel tank. Up to 3580 mg/kg GRO, 131 mg/kg benzene, and 16.5 mg/kg DRO in the soil. Groundwater was encountered at 10 feet below ground surface and had a fuel sheen. The contaminated soil that was excavated was placed back in the excavation lined with visquene. Clean backfill was placed in the bottom to raise the backfilled soils above the groundwater. The extent of the soil and groundwater contamination has not been determined. Groundwater is estimated to flow toward the northwest direction. F.K.A. L55.180

1/6/2009 Site Characterization Report Approved Received groundwater characterization report for Renners #1 at 2510 East Tudor Road. THree soil borings were completed as monitoring wells in the vicinity of and downgradient from the former tanks, which were removed in 1993. Soil samples were collected from the groundwater interface, 10-12 ft bgs in boreholes 1 and 2 and from 7.5 to 9.5 ft bgs in borehole 3. Contaminants were not detected in any of the samples. DRO was detected in one of three groundwater samples at 0.625 mg/l in MW1. Based on a review of existing data, the groundwater flow direction was assumed to be to the northwest, however the gradient calculated during this sampling event showed the groundwater gradient to be relatively flat, with a slight trend towards the southeast. Other investigations in this area reported significant seasonal variation in groundwater flow direction, therefore the groundwater flow direction will be calculated again in Spring 2009. Bill O'Connell
6/3/2009 Update or Other Action Groundwater levels gauged again in May 2009 show a groundwater flow direction to the northeast, a shift of approximately 90 degrees to the north from the previous flow direction. Bill O'Connell
6/29/2009 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Reviewed report detailing decommissioning of monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3. Wells were removed from the ground and backfilled with bentonite. Bill O'Connell
