Problems/Comments

During the upgrading of the piping of one 10,000-gallon regular gasoline, one 10,000-gallon premium unleaded gasoline, and one 5,000-gallon diesel underground storage tanks, soil contamination was encountered as a result of fuel releases from overfills. Approximately 90 cubic yards of contaminated soils was excavated and thermally remediated at CleanSoils in Anchorage. Groundwater was not encountered or affected. Soil contamination remains near the one 10,000-gallon premium unleaded gasoline tank by the footing/foundation of the store. Updated November 30, 2006 Alyce Hughey.
