10/26/1995 Cleanup Plan Approved (Old R:Base Action Code = RAPR - Remedial Action Plan Review (CS)). CAP submitted for soils at this site and at another logging camp. Approximately 600 cubic yards of oily soil expected total from both sites. Possible solvent contamination. Oily soils will be combined and placed into a biocell. Plan approved. Sally Schlichting

6/21/2000 Update or Other Action Cleanup resumed this week. Two out of three of main cleanup excavations complete. The excavation near the Durrette property line yielded some localized contamination that had to be cleaned up and a broken culvert that had some oil in it. The excavation at the north end of the main shop/generator area went smoothly. Need to characterize under the Boyer Building which is currently being demolished. At the main shop, approval issued to backfill the excavation right away as it could threaten the foundation of the building if excavation left open. Also, this is a traffic area, open to City of Thorne Bay workers who maintain the city generator. Email approval issued this date to use the material from the old biocell to backfill here. CAP for Thorne Bay included use of this material for backfill. KPC will mark the corners/sidewalls of the excavation so that they can easily pick up where they left off if confirmation samples show that they did not get all of the contamination. Bill Janes
9/27/2000 Update or Other Action Cost Recovery Letter Issued this date. Sally Schlichting
11/3/2000 Update or Other Action $17,740.28 check received for this site, four others and the general "Ancillary Facilities" project code. Bill Janes
1/30/2001 Update or Other Action Final report approved for the Shop and Bunkhouse areas. A small volume of contaminated soil is present at the Shops area due to the presence of buildings and a utilities vault prohibiting soil removal. Anne Marie Palmieri
