11/9/1990 Leaking Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Initiated - Petroleum LCAU; :LCAU Date changed DB conversion Former Staff
3/18/1991 Release Investigation Sent a letter in response to review of the Environmental Services Ltd. UST closure report dated 1/17/91 for a 1,000 gallon underground tank. 12/19/90 sample results confirmed the necessity of additional site assessment/cleanup which will be done in spring. Upper range of EPH test results were from middle of excavation 1470 ppm (gas) & 687 ppm (diesel). However, the lab indicated that the data were not valid due to quality control issues. Soil samples taken from stockpiles: north 157 ppm & south 125 ppm total petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. Suggested that contamination is result of overfill spills. Spring '91 will excavate all contaminated soils & retest soil for contaminants. Requested a work plan to define the extent and magnitude of contamination as well as a corrective action plan by 4/19/91. John Halverson
4/19/1991 Update or Other Action In a conversation with Don Burrows, indicated that the regs required a groundwater sample be submitted for lab analysis. John Halverson
5/15/1991 Update or Other Action Received a copy of the Environmental Services Ltd. "Post Closure Report" dated 4/12/91. John Halverson
6/3/1991 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other A letter was sent this date after review of the Environmental Services Ltd. "Corrective Action Plan" dated 4/18/91 and received by the department on 5/15/91. The matrix score of 26 was recalculated by the department to be 38 or Matrix Level B unless >25 cy of contaminated soil are found and then it will be Matrix Level A instead. Approval by ADEC required before transport and disposal of contaminated media. Contaminated soil stockpiles need to be placed on and covered by liners. Discrete soil stockpile samples requested. Depth to groundwater and whether it is contaminated needs to be determined by a soil boring and groundwater sampling and lab analysis. Bill Petrik

I do not however have any documentation confirming this." Mr. Voss inquired about what the process that needs to be followed from here. Mike Mooney

12/19/2006 Exposure Tracking Model Ranking Baseline ETM Ranking completed 12/11/06. Low potential exposure or incomplete pathways for all routes except GW ingestion. This route has a high potential exposure ranking due to soil samples above cleanup level, no data on GW and the presence of one well in the B Street Industrial Center and two others within 1000' of the site. Status of wells as a drinking water source unknown but should be determined. Daniel Fremgen

8/22/2012 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Reviewed work plan for release investigation at Pizza Hut Admin Offices, 210 Center Court. One borehole will be advanced at the source area and screened with a PID at 2.5 foot intervals. Up to two soil samples will be collected. Two additional boreholes will be advanced and sampled if contamination is suspected of being present in the first borehole. One wellpoint will be installed in the first borehole and a screening level water sample collected to evaluate the potential migration of contaminants to groundwater. Wellpoints may also be installed and sampled at the two additional boreholes. Bill O'Connell

11/29/2012 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Reviewed Release Investigation Report for 210 Center Court, Pizza Hut Administrative office. One soil boring was advanced and sampled at the location of the former gasoline UST and a groundwater sample was collected from a temporary well point. A fuel dispenser was formerly located immediately adjacent to the UST. Soil samples were collected from 5-7.5 feet bgs near the bottom of the former UST excavation, at 7.5-10 feet bgs and at 10-13 feet bgs. Moist soil was encountered above a silt layer near the former tank bottom at 6.5 feet bgs and groundwater was encountered at approximately 13 feet bgs, but rose to approximately 10 feet bgs in the well point after installation. Benzene was detected in soil up to 0.0414 mg/kg at 7.5 to 10 feet bgs but was not detected in the sample from 10-13 feet bgs. GRO and DRO were not detected in any sample. Contaminants were not detected above cleanup levels in the groundwater sample. Bill O'Connell
11/29/2012 Exposure Tracking Model Ranking A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 77576 1,000 Gallon UST. Bill O'Connell
12/18/2012 Cleanup Complete Determination Issued The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Contaminated Sites Program (ADEC) has completed a review of the environmental records associated with the Pizza Hut Administrative Offices located at 210 Center Court in Anchorage, Alaska.
