Problems/Comments

On May 6, 1998 the UST piping was removed between the two replacement tanks installed in October 1991 and the nearby dispenser island. Replacement piping was installed shortly after the removal. Based on field readings two analytical samples were collected, one from the piping and one from dispenser areas. Up to 0.15 mg/kg benzene (0.50 mg/kg clean up level at this time) and <0.3 mg/kg GRO (200 mg/kg clean up level at this time) in the two samples collected. On August 10, 1998 a No Further Action (Corrective Action Complete) letter was issued for the piping, joints and dispenser locations for the piping removal that occured on May 6, 1998 for the tanks that were installed in October 1991. While the samples indentified detectable petroleum contamination, all of the samples collected met the current clean up levels so no clean up was required. Replacement piping was installed after the removal. The letter notes that should contaminated soil or groundwater in these areas be identified in the future, an appropriate site assessment and clean up will be required, in accordance with applicable regulations.
