2/16/1993 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Reviewed a R&M Consultants, Inc. "Wrightway Auto Carriers - UST Decommissioning/Site Assessment Report" dated 1/8/93 received by the department 1/20/93 documenting the removal of a registered / regulated 5,000-gallon diesel UST on 10/16/92. 25 cubic yards of contaminated soil stockpiled as a result of excavation and removal. DW well is located on site. Contamination over cleanup levels remains in backfilled excavation (260 ppm EPH) at 1.5 feet below the excavation floor at the fill pipe end of the former tank location. Still waiting on sample results from old excavation that was sampled at the same time. Sent a letter requesting further work or information on six items be submitted to the department by 3/31/93. 2/20/2009 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Received January 1993 Site assessment Report for Wrightway via ARRC. This report differs from that detailed in earlier actions as it contains characterization info for groundwater and the other UST excavation. In 1992 an investigation was conducted at a 5,000-gallon diesel UST in front of the shop, and at an open excavation where diesel and gasoline tanks were removed in 1990. Stockpile samples were also collected and groundwater was sampled. At the 5,000-gallon UST pulled in 1992, two confirmation samples were collected and one stockpile sample was collected from the 25 cy of soil removed during the tank excavation. One confirmation sample contained EPH (roughly equivalent to DRO) at 260 mg/kg. The other confirmation sample and the stockpile sample did not contain detectable concentrations of contaminants. In 1990, two USTs were removed from a common excavation near the loading ramp along with approximately 30 cy of soil. In 1992, this area was evaluated by digging test pits within the existing exavation and collecting soil samples. Four samples were collected from four test pits and contained EPH up to 720 mg/kg and benzene up to 0.35 mg/kg. Various monitoring wells were installed and sampled both on the property and in the upgradient ARRC railyard. Of the wells on the property, well B-1 along the south side (downgradient) of the property contained DRO at 171 mg/l and benzene at 0.0176 mg/l. Well B-6 contained DRO at 8.6 mg/l and benzene at 0.0255 mg/l. The disposition of the monitoring wells and the stockpiles are unknown at this time. ADEC anticipates conducting a site visit in Summer 2009 to confirm. Bill O'Connell

9/18/2009 Update or Other Action Site visit on 9/15/09. The stopckpiled soil in the northeast corner of the property has been spread on site along the northern edge of the property. Field screening samples were collected and screened using the PID headspace method. PID readings and visual observation did not suggest the presence of contaminants. Bill O'Connell
