Problems/Comments

Seven USTs have been removed at this site: USTs 1,2,& 3 were 12,000-gallon USTs with dispensers and piping; removed in 1997. Confirmation samples indicated benzene up to 3.03 mg/kg at excavation bottom. Approximately 400 cu yds of soil were stockpiled near Pickett Place for bioremediation; status is currently unknown (Mar 2015). Release Investigation (RI) is also still required for tanks 1, 2, & 3. UST 1 = regular gasoline UST 2 = unleaded gasoline UST 3 = super unleaded gasoline UST 4 was a 6,000-gallon HOT; removed in 2005. RI completed in 2014. UST 5 & 6 were each a 3,000-gallon UST at some converted from new lube-oil storage to heating oil status and used to store used oil burned in the facility. Tanks were pulled and RIs completed in 2014. UST 7 was a 500-gallon HOT removed and assessed in 2014. Stockpiled soils from UST 5 & 6 contained DRO, PCE, and TCE above migration to groundwater levels, and were placed back into the tank excavations. Soil borings from the RI confirmed PCE in subsurface soils (0.03 mg/kg). No COCs above cleanup levels in groundwater. Facility 2474

10/7/2004 Underground Storage Tank Site Characterization or Assessment Site Assessment received for work completed in July 1997. Three 12,000-gallon regulated gasoline tanks and two pump islands were removed from this facility in 1997. Approximately 400 cubic yards of contaminated soil were excavated and stockpiled near a gravel pit on Picket Place. Confirmation soil samples were collected from the base of the tanks and the pump islands. Groundwater was encountered at approximately 14 feet bgs. Samples were analyzed for GRO, BTEX and lead (4). The only contaminant that was above ADEC cleanup levels was benzene. Levels of benzene ranged up to 3.03 mg/Kg. Deborah Williams
