5/26/1992 Leaking Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Initiated - Petroleum In a Phase IIIC report by Phutan dated 6/3/1992 it noted that on 5/26/92 about 45 - 50 cy of contaminated soil was removed from around the LUST and that soil with elevated levels of EPH, VPH, TPH and benzene were stockpiled on site. Groundwater while at only 3.5 ft. bgs was not contaminated because of a layer of silt that provided a barrier to the contamination to migrate. Rich Sundet

12/30/1992 Underground Storage Tank Site Characterization or Assessment SA1R; DEC issued FDIC a letter to FDIC that provided comments to Phukan's "Permanent UST Closure" report dated 7/27/92; "Field Screening and Excavation of Contaminated Soils" dated 8/7/92; and "Phase II Environmental Assessment" dated 12/11/91. 3/22/1993 Update or Other Action On 3/22/93 DEC issued a letter to FDIC that it had reviewed documents provided to it on 2/26/93 from Phukan noting that the documents meet the requirements of the 18 AAC 78 regs. But that during a 3/19/93 inspections one drum was observed and DEC requested identification of its contents and disposla. In addition DEC noted that it required a receipt ofrom Clean Soils for the treatment of45 cy yds of contaminated soil prior to issuance of a NFRAP or Closure letter. Rich Sundet

10/8/2004 Update or Other Action On 10/7/04, CSP contacted the MOA who verified the present owners of the property as Ronald and Mary Klassen. On 10/8/04, CSP issued a letter to the Klassen's that information is requested on the 45 cy stockpile and possible drums of wastewater that were on site as of at least March 1993. DEC also informed the Klassen's that if these issues are successfully addressed, the site can be closed. Rich Sundet
10/27/2004 Update or Other Action On 10/27/04, DEC issued a letter in followup to a meeting with Don Dougherty who met w/Sundet on 10/26 and presented data on soil tested on the lot. Based on the data, on 10/27 DEC issued a letter on nonobjection to transport of the tested 20-25 cy of soil on Block 4 to Tract 3A Hilghland Hills S/D on Hiland Rd. which is owned by Dougherty's client Mr. Dan Janke. It was unknown whether the subject soil was part of the 45 cy of soil that had been stockpiled in 1992 at the site. Rich Sundet
11/30/2004 Site Closure Approved Based upon info provided by Ron Klassen that the stockpiled soil was moved to the adjacent lot and no drums of wastewater was generated during the bioremediation, and remaining soil after excavation met regulatory Level C cleanup levels at that time (1993), on 11/30/04 CSP closed this site.
