6/7/1991 Leaking Underground Storage Tank Corrective Action Underway RAPR; City of Fairbanks found that a leak exists in the vent or fill line of the underground diesel tank located at the southeast corner of the Public Safety bldg. Groundwater contamination is confirmed although the source is still unknown. The city requested approval to remove dispensing station, remove product from tank, excavate soils to top of tank and below all piping, remove all piping, take samples from excavation, and line excavation with heavy duty impermeable liner. 7/27/1991 Update or Other Action REM; City of Fairbanks removed 2500 gallon underground fuel storage tank. The tank was in excellent condition. Two areas of visibly stained soil indicate possible contamination from the piping system. Soil from the excavation was stockpiled at 2121 Peger Rd. Two of six soil samples were higher than 100 ppm - 204 and 429 ppm (method 8015 diesel range). Former Staff
