Problems/Comments

The former Tundra Tours Bus property was developed in the early 1980s and served as a bus storage and maintenance facility until mid-1990s. Two 10,000 gallon underground storage tanks that stored gasoline and diesel fuel were located on the southern portion of Lot 4A and removed in 1995.

Travis/Peterson recommends that ASRC conduct a phase II investigation for onsite contamination at the following areas: Leach field and oil/water separator holding tank. Also Travis/Peterson recommends further delineation of the soil and groundwater contamination associated with the former 10,000-gallon USTs. The warehouse is currently hooked up to municipal water system but an abandoned water well on-site should be decommissioned. Deborah Williams
12/15/2006 Update or Other Action ADEC received the Phase II Environmental Sampling report for the site. Travis/Peterson completed eight soil borings and three monitoring wells on the property. The soil borings were installed mostly on the east end of the building and a couple were installed on the west end of the building where the septic tank and system were located. The three monitoring wells were installed on the south side of the building closer to the former UST storage and Fueling Island Area. All the soil and groundwater samples were below ADEC cleanup levels. Deborah Williams

10/10/2007 Site Closure Approved ADEC determined that soil contamination on site above the established cleanup levels was detected in 1995 at the soil / groundwater interface at 11 feet bgs. There has been no evidence of impacts to groundwater since then. ADEC considers any soil contamination remaining to be deminimis and not an unacceptable risk to human health or the environment.
