Problems/Comments
Tank improperly decommissioned in '90. Thus CH2MHILL will conduct tank closure sampling in a Release Investigation report. UST 322, a 1,000 gal. for storage of used oil for vehical maintenance activities. UST replaced 8/90 w/dual-walled 1,000 UST. Soil contaminated w/TRPH 230 ppm max. Between 9-11 ft. in excavation w/ 0.31 ppm xylenes. This site was reviewed on January 12, 2016. The site was formerly listed in Appendix A of the Two Party Agreement at Fort Wainwright. DEC is reviewing the Appendix A site list and has requested the Army to update the list based on confirmed cleanup complete/closure status of the original sites.

7/28/2005 | Underground Storage Tank Site Characterization or Assessment | Contaminated Sites staff reviewed and provided comments to Fort Wainwright's draft Sampling Data Report for Taku Gardens and Building 3421. Concentrations of gasoline-range organics (GRO), diesel-range organics (DRO), and residual-range organics (RRO), and polychlorinated biphenyls in soil borings from Taku Gardens were either not detected or did not exceed cleanup levels. In soil samples collected at Building 3421, GRO and RRO were detected at concentrations below cleanup levels. Tetrachloroethene, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and various polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons were also detected but at concentrations below cleanup levels.
