Problems/Comments
Analytical results indicate that diesel has spilled or leaked at 3 locations. Observed DRO collected at 1' below land surface at tank 7 are 45,000 and 110,000 mg/kg. Diesel contamination exceeded cleanup level B at tank 6 and five other AST locations. Petroleum contamination appears to be limited to areas near the ASTs. Areas of staining at the spill areas appear to be relatively small. However, vertical extent of contamination is unknown, making volume estimation uncertain. Last staff assigned was Olson.
Action Information
Action Date | Action | Description | DEC Staff |
---|---|---|---|
4/20/1995 | Site Added to Database | Site added to database. | Mike Krieber |
4/27/1995 | Update or Other Action | (Old R:Base Action Code = SA1R - Phase I SA Review (CS/LUST)). Analyses show that unacceptable levels of diesel range contamination was detected at 12" below ground surface. No samples were collected at greater depths. Immediate action is needed to stop the leak at tank #7 where soil contamination was reported to be 110,000 ppm. Cleanup action is needed this summer to prevent GW contamination if that has not already occurred. A site assessment/cleanup plan needs to be submitted to the Department for review and approval no later than 6/5/95. | Mike Krieber |

11/15/2007 | Site Characterization Report Approved | Site characterization report approved this date. Site-wide average for lead is below alternative cleanup level of 1064. DRO is present in soils at the tank farm and under other aboveground tanks. Removal/remedial action required at the tanks. | Anne Marie Palmieri |
11/15/2007 | Cleanup Level(s) Approved | Alternative cleanup levels approved this date for lead: 1064 mg/kg and DRO: 8250 mg/kg. Lead level requires a future institutional control limiting the duration of stay to 210 days per year. | Anne Marie Palmieri |
5/15/2024 | Meeting or Teleconference Held | Teleconference held with USCG and DEC to discuss active USCG contaminated sites and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) renewal. | Sophia Bracio |
