5/25/1994 | Leaking Underground Storage Tank Corrective Action Underway | CAPR; Gas contaminated soil will be spread to depth of 12 inches and allowed to aerated, uncovered during dry periods and covered during rain. When cleanup levels are achieved, treatment of diesel contaminated soil will begin. Nutrients will be added and moisture content monitored. ADEC cleanup level B. | Former Staff |
6/10/1994 | Leaking Underground Storage Tank Corrective Action Underway | CAPA; Corrective action plan for landspreading for GRO impacted soils, and landfarming (nutrients added) for the DRO impacted soil proposed by Bayliss was approved by Rice on 6/10/94. | Former Staff |
12/15/1994 | Update or Other Action | CORR; Municipality concerned of risk to sewer/water lines due to RP's further excavation of contaminated soils. Pleas DEC to approve no further excavation by RP. | Former Staff |
5/19/1995 | Update or Other Action | In a letter to the City of Craig, the ADEC stated that a lens of subsurface petroleum contamination identified at the edge of the utility corridor between the facility and the Craig Klawock Road may remain to attenuate naturally to regulatory soil cleanup levels. | Bruce Wanstall |
5/19/1995 | Update or Other Action | UPD; City of Craig requested 12/15/94 to have C&W Repair limit the exent of soil excavation as the City's water & sewer line integrity was being threatened. 4/9/2002 | Update or Other Action | Stockpiled soil treatment has been proceeding according to approved CAP. RP moved the soil in 11/99 from the facility to new location following sale of the property. Consultant for the current owner of the facility agreed to forward Phase I report conducted prior to sale of the property in 1999. Soil borings were advanced and no contaminantion was found. | Bruce Wanstall |

8/21/2002 | Update or Other Action | Site Status Report sent to RP and current faciltiy owner following site inspection 8/8/02. | Bruce Wanstall |
6/7/2006 | Update or Other Action | By 2006 thirteen years of remedial treatment had been completed on the contaminated soil. Nine years beyond the 1997 target date for treatment completion specified in the CAP. DEC discussed the treatment completion process requirements in 18 AAC 78.273 and 18 AAC 78.276(a) for off-site soil remediation with Mr. Warren. As an indication that concentration of residual contamination in the treated soil are protective of human health & safety and the environment, regulation requires demonstration that the soil would not produce petroleum leachate. Hot water soil tests performed on representative samples from the soil treatment cells did not produce any petroleum sheen. | Bruce Wanstall |

5/24/2011 | Cleanup Complete Determination Issued | DEC has completed a review of the environmental records associated with the former C&W Repair located at 1507 Craig-Klawock Highway in Craig on Prince of Wales Island. Based on the information provided to date, it has been determined that the contaminant concentrations remaining on site do not pose an unacceptable risk to human health or the environment and no future remedial action is required. This decision is based on the administrative record for the C&W Repair – Craig regulated underground storage tank facility that is located in the offices of the DEC in Juneau, Alaska. | Bruce Wanstall |
