Problems/Comments
The facility consists of two aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) containing heating oil, which are lined and diked. This tank farm is used to dispense fuel to various city facilities. It was reported that the tank farm will be replaced by a consolidated facility. A total of two soil samples were collected. One soil sample, southwest of the tank farm, near piping, at 1 foot below ground surface (bgs), contained 3,390 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) diesel range organics (DRO). The second soil sample, collected outside the dike at the southwest corner of the tank farm at 1 foot bgs, contained DRO below cleanup levels. Gasoline range organics (GRO), ethylbenzene, and xylenes were detected, but below cleanup levels. The detection limit for benzene on one sample was twice the cleanup level.

12/4/2017 | Update or Other Action | Summit Consulting Services managed the force account construction for the water and sewer project in Buckland from 2008/2009 until the present. This work included construction of a new water treatment plant and water storage tank adjacent to the existing. This year, they are replacing their treated water storage tank in its original location. The treated water storage tank is adjacent to the City’s fuel tank farm. From 2008/2009 until the beginning of this construction year, the Water and Sewer Project used that tank farm for the storage of gasoline (not diesel fuel or fuel oil). During that time, they wer not aware of any spills or incidences. This year, they terminated our agreement with the City for use of that tank. The City has since dismantled the tanks and removed them from the site. | Erin Gleason |
