Problems/Comments

On 2/12/2008 ~300 gallons of diesel fuel were released from an aboveground heating oil tank at the Maniilaq Assocition Family Crisis Center (aka Women's Shelter), because of a broken 1/2 inch steel fuel line due to differential settling of the building and tank. Initial cleanup efforts were conducted by the responsible party without the assistance of an environmental consultant. Contaminated soil was excavated and bagged at an off-site location (Senior Center on Wolverine Drive; lat/lomg: 66.898189, -162.582370; datum: WGS84). Diesel range organics (DRO) and gasoline range organics (GRO) remain above cleanup levels.
