Problems/Comments
In July, 2010 the former Fairbanks North Star Borough Steese Volunteer Fire Station #1 was demolished. As a part of the demolition project, a 1,000-gallon underground heating oil tank was removed. Initial sample results indicate the presence of diesel range organics in soil above DEC cleanup levels. The site also has a Class V Injection Well which was being evaluated for closure in coordination with EPA (that source area was not considered part of this Hazard ID).
