Problems/Comments
On October 29, 1997 two 10,000-gallon unleaded gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and one 10,000-gallon diesel UST were removed. The dispensing island used by the former USTs was not removed and was connected to the new aboveground storage tank system. Contaminated soil at one location with DRO at 390 mg/kg remained in the excavation. Approximately 20 cubic yards of contaminated soil were removed and thermally treated. A release investigation was conducted in 1998 including the installation of four monitoring wells which were monitored quarterly in 1999. The 1998 release invesigation documented that the dispenser island and below ground piping areas meet cleanup levels. Soil samples collected in 1998 near the sample location that had 390 mg/kg DRO in 1997 meet cleanup levels. Groundwater met cleanup levels throughout 1999.

Contaminant Information
Name | Level Description | Media | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
DRO | Between Method 2 Migration to Groundwater and Human Health/Ingestion/Inhalation | Soil | In 1997 the remaining DRO level was 390 mg/kg in the sidewall of the excavation. In 1998 the area was sampled again and DRO was below the most stringent migration to groundwater cleanup level. This area is covered with clean fill. |
DRO | < Table C | Groundwater | DRO was at 1.5 mg/L during the initial investigation and below that level or not detected in subsequent sampling events. |
