Site Characterization Workplan Approved |
Contaminated Sites staff approved a work plan for additional site assessment related to the 2009 change-in-service of UST #179. A 2010 letter from DEC identifies deficiencies in the 2009 site assessment report. A draft work plan was submitted on June 24, comments were sent July 28, a revised work plan was received Sept 09 and an approval letter was sent Sept 14. The additional site assessment will include another sample from a trench dug near the base of the tank and a sample from beneath the piping. The work may be conducted in 2011 or may be postponed until 2012. |

Staff reviewed the Draft Source Evaluation Report for Multiple Sites at Eielson AFB, of which Bldg 2316 is a part. In a letter dated March 4th, 2013, ADEC noted that the report does not meet the requirements of a Release Investigation, nor complete a full Site Characterization under State regulations. The letter also notes that completed sampling has thus far been limited, and that there are still data gaps to be addressed. Specific to Bldg 2316, the sampling done thus far finds DRO in groundwater above screening levels. |

The Non-OU RI/FS MP describes planned remedial investigations at 17 contaminated sites at Eielson Air Force Base, including TU076. |

DEC and EPA jointly approved the "2015 Annual Field Sampling Plan, Eielson Performance-Based Remediation, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska" dated September 2015 (FSP). The FSP describes remedial investigations planned for 2015 at 21 contaminated sites at Eielson Air Force Base, including TU076. The FSP is meant to be used in conjunction with the appropriate remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) management plans (i.e. Non-OU) and the Programmatic Quality Assurance Project Plan. |
