Problems/Comments
Underground storage tank #2, formerly storing diesel fuel, was removed on 7/20/2011. Observations during assessment activities indicated evidence of petroleum-contaminated soil due to releases from fill and vent pipes.

11/21/2011 | Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other | DEC received and reviewed Wescott Memorial Pool Facility ID #1253 7,000-Gallon Diesel Underground Storage Tank Site Assessment/Tank Closure Report dated Nov 2011, prepared by ICA. The tank system was removed, recycled “as is” and disposed at the GNI yard. A new 4,000-gallon regulated duel heating oil and emergency use double-walled UST was installed in the same excavation. Approximately 107 cubic yards (cy) of contaminated soil was hauled offsite and thermally remediated. DRO contaminated soil (515 mg/kg), above the ADEC cleanup level, is confined to a small area on the south sidewall/bottom of the excavation. Approximately 40 cy of clean (below ADEC cleanup level) stockpiled soil and additional clean gravel were used used to backfill. (MBarnes) | Willett Boger |

8/10/2022 | Site Characterization Workplan Approved | Approved workplan for investigation of USTS 2&3. Site assessment and release investigation activities are proposed to investigate contamination found during closure by removal of UST#2 and to correct sampling deficiencies with the site assessment performed during change-in-service of UST#3. A direct push drill rig will be used to collect soil samples from four locations surrounding UST #3. Soil borings will be field screened with a photo-ionization detector and analytical samples will be collected from beneath piping and from the groundwater interface in accordance with 18 AAC 78.090. Based on field screening results, atleast one boring will be completed as a temporary groundwater sampling point to investigate impacts to groundwater. | Michael Hooper |
3/2/2023 | Cleanup Complete Determination Issued | Reviewed Former UST No. 2 and Deregulated/ Change-in-Service UST No. 3 Site Assessment/Site Characterization Report. Borings were advanced to groundwater. Soil samples were collected surrounding the tank. Soil at the location of Sample S3 previously exceeded the migration to groundwater cleanup level but appears to have attenuated to below detectable levels. Contamination was not detected in groundwater. | Michael Hooper |
