Site Report: FAA Cold Bay Station Bldg 601 Dry Well
We make every effort to ensure the data presented here is accurate based on the best available information currently on file with DEC. It is therefore subject to change as new information becomes available. We recommend contacting the assigned project staff prior to making decisions based on this information.
Problems/Comments
FAA Shop Building 601 is adjacent to the ADOTPF Maintenance Shop and contains a system of floor drains inside the shop, as well as a dry well. The dry well is not connected to the floor drains since the floor drains are open to the soil under the building and there is no evidence of piping in them. Soil samples taken near the dry well during a FY95 ESI found DRO, GRO, and BTEX concentrations in excess of ADEC Level B standards. During the FY95 ESI, the contamination around the dry well appeared to be diesel fuel contamination, and separate from that of the floor drains inside the building. The source of contamination is unclear, yet a pipe appears to discharge to the dry well from the adjacent ADOTPF Maintenance Shop.
