DEC and EPA jointly approved the "2015 Annual Field Sampling Plan, Eielson Performance-Based Remediation, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska" dated September 2015 (FSP). The FSP describes remedial investigations planned for 2015 at 21 contaminated sites at Eielson Air Force Base, including SS521. The FSP is meant to be used in conjunction with the appropriate remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) management plan(i.e. Non-OU) and the Programmatic Quality Assurance Project Plan. |

non-operable unit (OU) source areas SO072, TU076, SS085, SS521 and SO524 on Eielson Air Force Base (AFB) conducted from 2015 to 2017. |

DEC provided review comments for the Closure Draft Report, FTQW 19-1003 Repair Parachute Shop Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska (dated February 2022). The Parachute Shop project consisted of renovating and repairing the building (B. 1161) and surrounding site. Soil excavation was limited to the extent required for construction. Soil excavated within the known petroleum contamination boundaries delineated by the USAF for this site was placed on five stockpiles and characterized by discrete sampling methods in accordance with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Field Sampling Guidance (October 2019). Results of stockpile sampling indicated perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOS), Pentachlorophenol (PCP), and Diesel Range Organics (DRO) were present above applicable Method Two, Table B1 and Table B2 Soil Cleanup Levels.
