Problems/Comments
A tank farm has been located at this site since the 1960s or 1970s. It consists of eight tanks within a lined, bermed secondary containment area. Additionally, there is one 6,300-gallon tank outside of the secondary containment, which is not in use. The tank farm is divided into east and west sections, separated by sandbag berms. The east section has two 30,000-gallon vertical tanks, while the west section has six tanks ranging from 6,300 to 8,000 gallons. These tanks contain diesel and gasoline. An additional 30,000-gallon tank is located outside the fenced tank farm area, and in 2011, it was observed that the 30,000-gallon tank did not have secondary containment. Besides the tank farm, there is a dispensing station used by local residents for fueling. In 2011, a Phase I Environmental Assessment was conducted, during which the contractor observed elevated readings from a hand-held photo-ionization detector (PID) and free product in several test pits. The extent of soil and groundwater contamination at this site is unknown.
