2012 – Phase 1 Source Evaluation Report (SER) for SS085 received March 2012. The purpose of this preliminary evaluation was to determine the appropriate path forward for the source area. The sources of potential impacts at the site are suspected to be (1) fluids discharged into the dry well and (2) possible release of contaminants from the sediment accumulated at the bottom of the well into the groundwater. Phase II Source Evaluation Report (SER) will be completed as a site inspection. Additional environmental data will be collected. *Added to CSP: 8/7/2014* |

2013- Final Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for Phase 2 SER at SS085 received April 2013. The QAPP outlines the policies, organization, and specific quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) measures associated with the collection, analysis, and reporting of data collected in support of the investigation to achieve the data quality goals. The purpose of the Phase 2 SER is to determine the presence or absence of COPCs in the areas and the media most likely to be impacted by any potential releases from past contaminants. * Added to CSP: 8/7/2014 |

Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other |
The AF submitted Final Phase 2 Source Evaluation Report (SER) for site SS085. Received 2/24/15. The purpose of Phase 2 SER was to determine the presence or absence of COPCs in the areas and the media most likely to be impacted by a past release from the dry well (SS085). DRO, barium and chromium were present in soil samples at concentrations in exceedance of ADEC soil screening levels. Metals were present in groundwater samples in exceedance of background threshold values. It is unclear the exact extent of groundwater contamination, further investigation is needed to better characterize groundwater quality. |

CERCLA RI Plan Approved |
EPA and DEC provided a joint approval for the Final Supplemental Remedial Investigation Work Plan Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska (September 2022). The scope of this Supplemental RI is to address current data gaps at the CERCLA source areas on Eielson AFB. The data gaps are generally related to the incomplete characterization of site contaminants under the 2015-2021 Performance Based Remediation (PBR) and emerging contaminants identified since the 2015-2021 PBR. |
