Problems/Comments
On June 21, 2012, two 10,000-gallon underground fuel tanks, associated piping and adjacent fuel dispensers were removed. Diesel range organics (DRO) was detected at a concentration of 26.7 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) and xylenes was detected at 0.0345 to 0.0941 mg/kg in soil samples collected from the stockpile. Laboratory samples did not detect any analytes from the confirmation samples collected from the limits of the underground storage tank (UST) excavation, piping or the fuel dispenser removals. Groundwater was not encountered during the UST removal and is expected to be at depths exceeding 17 feet below ground surface (bgs). The two underground storage tanks were installed in 1987, where gasoline and suspected diesel were stored for retail fuel sales. The tanks and associated piping were in good condition with no signs of leakage. The stockpiled soil was placed back into the excavation once sample analysis confirmed no soil contamination exceeding ADEC soil cleanup levels was present.

10/29/2012 | Underground Storage Tank Site Characterization or Assessment | The two 10,000-gallon underground storage tanks, associated piping and dispensers site characterization and assessment was documented in the Underground Storage Tank Removal Site Assessment/Closurre Report, dated August 29, 2012, prepared by Environmental Management Incorporated. DRO was detected at a concentration of 26.7 mg/kg and xylenes was detected at 0.0345 to 0.0941 mg/kg in soil samples collected from the stockpile. Laboratory samples did not detect any analytes from the confirmation samples collected from the limits of the UST excavation, piping or the fuel dispenser removals. Groundwater was not encountered during the UST removal and is expected to be at depths exceeding 17 feet bgs. The two underground storage tanks were installed in 1987, where gasoline and suspeted diesel were stored for retail fuel sales. The tanks and associated piping were in good condition with no signs of leakage. The stockpiled soil was placed back into the excavation once sample analysis confirmed no soil contamination exceeding ADCE soil cleanup levels was present. | Alyce Hughey |
