Problems/Comments

In September 2011 a 5,000-gallon heating oil underground storage tank (DEC UST Facility 3546, DEC UST ID #4/Owner ID 430A) was removed at Building 501 at Fort Greely. Soil from the limits of the excavation were sampled for gasoline, diesel, and residual range organics (GRO, DRO and RRO), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Additional soil sampling was performed in August 2012. Some PAHs were detected, but below the most stringent cleanup levels.
