Problems/Comments

In March 2013 approximately 1,000 to 1,500 gallons of propylene glycol were released from the piping of a radiant slab heating system in the floor of the motor pool annex at the Federal Building at 101 12th Avenue in Fairbanks.

5/10/2013 Site Characterization Workplan Approved Approved the final work plan for site investigation to determine if there are soil or groundwater impacts associated with the glycol release. The contractor will install 8 direct push soil borings and 8 direct push temporary groundwater monitoring points. Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. Melody Debenham

9/19/2014 Site Characterization Report Approved Received Glycol Release Investigation Report. Results show that ethylene glycol was detected in one soil sample above the migration to groundwater cleanup level but below the direct contact cleanup level. No ethylene glycol or propylene glycol was detect in the groundwater samples. Melody Debenham
