On May 10 and 30, 2012 an UST Site Assessment was conducted for a change in service for the two 12,000-gallon underground fuel tanks (diesel and gasoline), with fuel piping to four separate dispensers located on concrete islands under an overhead canopy. Soil samples collected showed detectable levels of DRO and PAH’s in the sample collected under the northeast dispenser island just below the pipe elbow and elevated levels of DRO at 3,270 mg/kg was detected under the southeast dispenser island just below the pipe elbow. Lead was detected in the native silty soils at 5.61 to 6.50 mg/kg and in the sandy soils at 3.02 to 3.97 mg/kg. Groundwater was not encountered at a depth of 22.30 feet below ground surface. The site and surrounding properties are serviced by the City of Homer municipal water supply and the shallow groundwater in the area is not suitable for drinking water. | Alyce Hughey |
