Problems/Comments

On 6/26/13 petroleum-contaminated soil was encountered during the repair of Sierra Apron pads 1 through 3 at Eielson Air Force Base. Contamination is believed to be from a historical release.

8/7/2013 Update or Other Action The U.S. Air Force submitted a report entitled, "Eielson Air Force Base Airfield Paving and Maintenance Field Report, Version 1.0" dated August 7, 2013. The report describes the results of field screening and analytical sampling done at Sierra Apron in conjunction with the removal and replacement of asphalt cement concrete at various locations on Alpha and Romeo Taxiways. The sampling done at the Sierra Apron excavation confirmed methylene chloride contamination left in place in soil above Method Two cleanup levels. Approximately 14 cubic yards of contaminated soil was transported to OIT Inc. for thermal remediation. Melinda Brunner

10/10/2017 Update or Other Action DEC concurred with USAF Request to Assign Tanker Row Apron (DEC #107.38.117), Taxiway F Repair (DEC #107.38.118) and Sierra Apron (DEC #107.38.123)to 2-Party Agreement.
