Problems/Comments
On November 5, 2013 DEC was notified that the underground storage tank (UST) system at UST Facility ID 2518, former Plaza Texaco (now operated as Sourdough Fuel), had been upgraded in 1998 and that DRO, GRO, and BTEX contamination was found that exceeded DEC cleanup levels. The UST system consists of three 10,000-gallon tanks, one containing diesel and two gasoline, fuel dispensers, and related piping. In October 2016 Groundwater and soil contamination were investigated by advancing three soil borings and temporary well points near the location of the former UST. In some documentation the facility has been referred to under several names and addresses. Currently operated as Sourdough Fuel; alternate names include Market Basket, Plaza Gas, Plaza Texaco, and Petro Star. Address currently listed by the Fairbanks North Star Borough is 313 Santa Claus Lane; previously referred to as 103 North Santa Claus Lane and 301 North Santa Claus Lane.
