Problems/Comments
During normal drainage swale construction activities for the GSAB Hangar construction site, the contractor encountered fuel contaminated soil near the south east corner of the former Building 3005, Hangar 3. A test pit was created to determine the extent of the fuel spill. While "chasing" the contaminated soil it was observed that the fuel had reached a clay layer and did not go any deeper but spread horizontally. After excavating approximately 30 feet, a burn pit with debris was encountered. There were no adverse health effects noted by any personnel in or around the hole. Sample results are pending 10/2014.
