Problems/Comments

The FAA Skwentna Station former pesticide sprayer was located across the road from the former housing area (near the Skwentna air strip) where it had been abandoned. When it was decommissioned in 2010, there were no fluids remaining in the small tank. DDT, DDE, and DDD were detected in all the samples collected from the area beneath the former pesticide sprayer. The concentrations of contaminants detected were below the ADEC Method Two human health soil cleanup levels. However, the concentrations of the contaminants exceeded the ecological screening benchmarks and further evaluation of ecological risk is warranted.
