Problems/Comments
In the spring of 2012 DEC received a report of multiple releases of arctic grade diesel (#1) fuel at the Mentasta Traditional Council building in Mentasta Lake. The initial report indicated there had been releases on both the east and west sides of the building. The east side of the building was the location of a release during the winter of 2011/2012 from an aboveground storage tank (AST) while it was being used to fuel heavy equipment. The AST on the east side of the building has since been removed from the site. The west side of the building is the location of a heating oil AST. Soil staining was visible, but details about release(s) from the heating oil AST were not available. Field screening indicated surface soil was impacted. Analytical data were not available.
