Problems/Comments
In January 2015 an estimated 200-250 gallons of diesel were released beneath a residential structure from an aboveground heating oil tank due to a criminal act when a fuel line was cut during the theft of a monitor heater. The structure is post and pad construction, 18-24 inches above the ground surface. Removal efforts were restricted by plywood underlayment within the gravel pad as well as the presence of permafrost. The property is a 40 acre parcel with a rental cabin in a sparsely populated area. Field screening indicated vapor intrusion was not occurring. Analytical samples had not been collected.
