Problems/Comments

The vacant land described as Tax Lot 2045, Section 20, Township 1S, Range 1W, Fairbanks Meridian is the location of the terminus and outfall of a Class V injection well that originated from the former Kenai Supply building on the adjacent to the west of Tax Lot 2047 at 3000 Peger Road. Information regarding the former Kenai Supply building is tracked separately under Hazard ID 24285, File No. 100.26.036. The injection well on Tax Lot 2045 was not included in the investigation or remediation activities on the adjacent property. As part of a property transaction, subsurface soil samples were collected from the location of the injection well in July 2015. Petroleum constituents and metals exceeding DEC cleanup levels were confirmed present in soil at 10 feet below ground surface. A site visit by DEC staff noted the injection well components appeared to have been removed prior to this time without coordination or notification to DEC. A work plan for the decommissioning of the Class V injection well was submitted in August 2015 and follow up work occurred through 2017.
