Problems/Comments
An EPA Brownfield funded Limited Phase I Environmental Site Assessment was completed for Columbian Ward Fisheries Facility, Dumpsite, and "License to Enter" (LTE) Properties at Chignik Lagoon, Alaska to identify potential environmental concerns. Subject properties included: the Columbia Ward Fisheries (CWF) former cannery on the northwest shore of Chignik Lagoon across from the village of Chignik Lagoon, a dumpsite located in the Dago Creek valley approximately 1,000 feet northwest of the CWF facility, and 18 small lots located near Dago Point approximately 0.5 to 1 mile northeast of the CWF facility. Potential environmental concerns identified included: CWF Facility: fuel tank farms, fuel pipelines, generator shed, heating oil aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), boat storage racks, beach seep, waste disposal, machine shop, and hazardous building materials; Dumpsite: leachate migration and surface debris; LTE Properties: generator shed, heating oil ASTs, and hazardous building materials.
