The U.S. Air Force (USAF) submitted a Phase 1 Source Evaluation Report (SER) for FT092 to DEC and EPA in accordance with Paragraph 8.6 of the Eielson Federal Facility Agreement. The SER describes interviews with Eielson AFB personnel in which FT092 was identified as a former fire training area. The USAF SER transmittal letter states that the USAF intends to proceed with the investigation/cleanup of the site under CERCLA, and that the site is programmed for a site inspection in FY16. |

DEC staff reviewed and approved the Final EIE424 Garrison Slough Bridge Combined Field Closure Report, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, April 2025. This was a non-CERCLA construction project taking place on Eielson Air Force Base. The work for EIE424 consisted of demolishing the existing Garrison Slough Railroad Bridge, demolishing areas of Arctic Avenue as necessary to construct a culvert system, install the culvert system to allow Garrison Slough to flow freely, join the existing railroad tracks on either side of the bridge to new tracks spanning the culvert system, and to repave areas of Arctic Avenue as necessary. All soil encountered was assumed to be contaminated, and is currently in 4 stockpiles that have all had analytical results that indicate contamination. Contamination that remains onsite include: PFOS, Arsnic, DRO, RRO, and Naphthalene. |

DEC approved the transport of 115 pounds of soil cuttings generated 4/15-16/2025 from soil sampling activities to identify potential soil contamination along the proposed alignments (Utilidor G and H) on Eielson AFB. Contaminants of concern at the sites sampled include PFAS, chlorinated solvents, fuels, pesticides, PCBs, RCRA metals. Waste will be transported to the Republic Services Grand View Facility in Idaho. Soil came from these Eielson sites: SS314P, SS303P, ST058, SS061, SS064, SS062, SS085, SS107, SD021, SS41, FT092P, and SS037. |

DEC approved the Final 2025 Environmental Restoration Program Atlas, Eielson Air Force Base, AK, November 2025 on this date. The goal of the document is to present the Land Use Controls for the source areas at Eielson Air Force Base. The figures in the Atlas provide the Decision Document (DD) Controls, Base Administrative Controls, and ICs for each site, along with present groundwater plumes, restricted soil excavation areas, and contaminants of concern at the sites. The Restoration Atlas is required per the Institutional Control/Land Use Controls (IC/LUC) Settlement Agreement signed April 15, 2013. The Atlas was issued for the first time in 2017 and is updated annually. |
