Problems/Comments

The Apex Mine site is likely part of the Standard Copper Mining Company or the Threeman Mining Company. This site was investigated as part of an area-wide abandoned mine inventory effort. A small tailings pile is present in the uplands. Elevated concentrations of copper, arsenic, lead, and selenium are present in soil. Nearby surface water exceeds Alaska Water Quality Standards for aquatic life (chronic). Intertidal sediment has copper and arsenic exceedances of NOAA Threshold Effect Levels (TEL).
