Problems/Comments

On February 9, 2015 DEC received a report of a release of more than 50 gallons of diesel fuel from a fuel line from 2,000-gallon aboveground storage tank to an emergency generator at the old school building / community center in Birch Creek. The spill reportedly occurred in December 2014. No cleanup actions have been documented. In June 2015, field screening of surface soil was conducted and confirmed the presence of petroleum. No analytical samples have been collected. Petroleum-contaminated soil is present adjacent to and possibly beneath the building.

6/19/2017 Site Visit ADEC PPRP Staff Patrik Sartz conducted a site visit. Sartz examined the site and screened surface soils for petroleum contamination with a Photo-Ionization Detector (PID). Based on PID readings soil did not appear to be contaminated. Michael Hooper
