Problems/Comments
A 2017 removal site evaluation at Fern Mine determined that soil, primarily near fuel tanks, at Fern Mine is contaminated with diesel range organics and some PAHs (benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene, naphthalene, and dibenz(a,h)anthracene). There are also exceedances of antimony, arsenic, mercury, and cyanide in soil at the site. Surface water at the site does not exceed Alaska Water Quality Standards.
