Problems/Comments
On July 27, 2017, a 1,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST 2) and its associated piping were excavated and removed from the Alaska Communications (ACS) East Wire Center site in Anchorage. The tank was reportedly installed in 1988 and is known to have contained diesel. Immediately following the tank removal, a UST closure assessment was conducted to characterize the soil at the excavation limits and in a soil stockpile. One analytical sample taken from the stockpile contained Benzo[a]pyrene concentrations above its respective ADEC cleanup level; all others were either non-detect or below the ADEC cleanup levels. The stockpile soil was transported to the Anchorage Regional Landfill in August, 2017.
