Site Report: Goldstream General Store Heating Oil USTs
We make every effort to ensure the data presented here is accurate based on the best available information currently on file with DEC. It is therefore subject to change as new information becomes available. We recommend contacting the assigned project staff prior to making decisions based on this information.
Problems/Comments
In July and August, 2017 two 500-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) used to store heating fuel were removed from the southeast side of the Goldstream General Store. One tank had previously failed a tightness test. Following tank removal and initial soil excavation, confirmation samples indicate diesel range organics, benzene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, naphthalene, 1-methylnaphthalene, and 2-methylnaphthalene remain in soil above the DEC Method 2 migration to groundwater cleanup level.

Details |
Periodic Review |
The Landowner agrees to notify ADEC prior to any sale or transfer of the property and shall report to ADEC every 5 years to document the status of compliance with the institutional controls described in this notice. |
New Construction Restrictions |
If buildings are constructed or altered within 30 feet of the contaminated area such that a soil vapor pathway into the building is created, the ADEC must be notified and may require a vapor intrusion evaluation to determine if building occupants could be affected by vapors. |
Excavation / Soil Movement Restrictions |
In the event that the remaining contaminated soil becomes accessible in the future due to the building being removed, the land owner shall notify ADEC and characterize and, if determined necessary, cleanup the soil. |
Advance approval required to transport soil or groundwater off-site. |
|
Movement or use of contaminated material (including on site) in a manner that results in a violation of the water quality standards is prohibited (18 AAC 70) |
