Problems/Comments
The Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) Mount Edgecumbe Building 211A consists of an earthen floored shed, constructed around 1942, at the southeast corner of a former Indian Health Service duplex (building 211). A 2012 Facility Condition Assessment Report noted that the shed was used for storage of vehicles, batteries, small engine parts, and other potentially hazardous materials. It also indicated that a soil sample was analyzed for diesel range organics (DRO) and residual range organics (RRO). Sample results indicated DRO was present at 2,690 mg/Kg, above DEC cleanup levels and RRO was present at 8,520 mg/Kg, below DEC cleanup levels. A cleanup plan has been submitted to the department proposing excavation of contaminated soil with shipment to Seattle, and confirmation soil sampling.
